Dumb Ways to Build Controls, Keybinds & Best Settings

Default prompts on PC

These are read from the on-screen prompts in official PC screenshots, plus two inputs confirmed elsewhere. The icons show which mouse button is highlighted; if yours differ, the Controls tab is the final word.

Ping on middle mouse comes from a launch streamer demonstrating Solo Play; PlaySide’s support centre calls the action Ping. On PS5, a PlayStation 5 Pro video names L1 as distance.

How to remap

Open the menu (Esc on PC, Options on PS5, Menu on Xbox), choose Settings, then Controls. Scroll to find keyboard and mouse bindings, controller remapping, sensitivity and aim assist.

Controllers: Steam lists full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense as well as Xbox pads. PlaySide’s advice for a wireless pad that will not connect: put it in pairing mode, then restart the game or device if it still is not detected.
Keyboard and mouse on console: supported on both PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Settings worth changing

Ultrawide monitors are supported, according to PlaySide’s support centre.

If the camera makes you feel sick

PlaySide’s own suggestions: raise the field of view, turn off head bobbing and camera shake in the Gameplay tab, run your display at 60-120 Hz and take breaks. A PS5 Pro video also mentions some motion can feel nauseating, so these are worth setting before a long session.

If it lags or stutters

Verify the game files in Steam, update your GPU and CPU drivers, lower the graphics settings, or turn off V-Sync. Minimum and recommended hardware is on the system requirements page; online problems are covered in connection and voice fixes.

Finding your version number

The game’s version shows in the bottom-left of the main menu, and in the bottom-left of the pause menu during a job. That is worth checking before a co-op session: players on an older version cannot join each other.
